About the Initiative

The university-wide Collaborative on Global Children’s Issues fosters cross-disciplinary research and dialogue on critical and emerging global children's issues, with a particular focus on children in adversity and pathways to resilience.

Localization for Early Childhood Development and Child Protection in Guatemala

Mara Tissera Luna, a collaborative fellow at the Georgetown University Collaborative on Global Children’s Issues, published this report outlining suggestions proposed by Guatemalan community-based organizations to address specific challenges affecting young children and their caregivers experiencing displacement. 

This report is a part of the Breakthrough Series Collaborative on Promoting Early Childhood Development for Young Children on the Move in Northern Central America, funded by the Bainum Family Foundation. 

This report is the first edition of the Collaborative Insights series.

Reintegration of Children Affected by Deportation and Forcible Transfers: International Standards and Best Practices for Ukraine

Gillian Huebner, executive director at the Collaborative on Global Children’s Issues, contributed to to this newly-released white paper as part of her duties as a member of the Bring Kids Back UA Task Force, convened by the Office of the President of Ukraine.

The primary goal of the paper is to guide the development and implementation of concrete solutions for reintegrating affected children into their families and communities, as well as supporting their rehabilitation. 

The document will be presented and discussed at The Ministerial Conference on the Human Dimension of Ukraine’s 10-Point Peace Formula on October 30 and 31, 2024, in Montreal, Canada.
