Collaborative on Global Children's Issues

Agast is a 2026 global fellow at the Georgetown University Collaborative on Global Children's Issues, where she examines the relationships of child labor, guardianship, and alternative care arrangements as interventions to protect children working as domestic workers and living without family care. She is an expert in child protection and social welfare policies for vulnerable families and children living outside of family care.

  • ​Developed policy recommendations for the Government of Indonesia on an integrated social welfare services model for vulnerable children and families, child marriage, and social care models for children of migrant and informal workers.
  • Co-led development of interventions for access to legal identity for vulnerable families, children affected by climate change, and the protection of child domestic workers.
  • Led research on children in institutional care and social care for children in vulnerable families in Indonesia.
  • Published international articles and book chapters on children’s vulnerable situations in Indonesia.
  • Teaches undergraduate-level social work courses focused on child welfare policies at Universitas Indonesia.
  • Obtained a doctoral degree in social work from the University of Melbourne and a master’s degree in social work from Washington University in St. Louis.
