As part of its commitment to expanding curricular pathways related to children’s issues across Georgetown University, the Collaborative on Global Children’s Issues is pleased to announce these current course offerings. Taught by leading experts and practitioners in the field, these interdisciplinary classes provide students with opportunities to critically examine key challenges and solutions shaping the well-being of children worldwide.

Fall 2025

STIA 2244: Big Tech and Child Protection

Taught by Senior Fellow Eirliani Abdul Rahman, this course is designed to foster critical thinking on online child protection in the context of Big Tech and its platforms. Through case studies, discussions, and practical applications, students will learn how the technology to detect child sexual abuse material has evolved over the past 15 years.

Spring 2025

UNXD 4100: Child Rights & Resilience

Taught by Executive Director Gillian Huebner and Rebecca Levy, this class explores challenges faced by children in adversity and strategies to promote children’s protection and resilience in development and humanitarian settings. It also provides students with unique opportunities to learn from leading practitioners in the field.
