Kelley McCreery Bunkers is a senior associate with Maestral International and a 2025-2026 senior fellow with the Georgetown Collaborative on Global Children’s Issues. With 32 years of professional experience, Kelley has led initiatives that promote safe and nurturing family care for children across 35 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Europe.

  • Collaborates with U.S. and foreign governments, diplomatic missions, UNICEF, international and faith-based organizations, and private foundations.
  • Areas of technical expertise include project management, policy analysis, child protection system strengthening, design and delivery of social services, and care reform.
  • Currently engaged in initiatives in Guatemala, Moldova, Kenya, and Ukraine as a Senior Associate with Maestral International.
  • Thrives on collaboration and shared learning, being part of multicultural teams, acting as a bridge between policymakers and practitioners, mentoring staff and young people, and participating in professional networks.
  • Authored close to 20 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and more than 100 published programming documents, technical guidance, training programs, and tools.
  • Holds a a master's degree in child rights and is fluent in Spanish and Romanian.
  • Lives in San José, Costa Rica—the 10th country she has called home over the past three decades.
  • As a 2025-2026 senior fellow at Georgetown, Kelley will document positive changes in and relevant models of children’s care by Catholic actors globally over the past two decades.
