Rebecca Levy
Collaborative on Global Children's Issues
Rebecca Levy is the associate director of the Georgetown University Collaborative on Global Children’s Issues. Prior to this, she served as the U.S. government special advisor for children in adversity at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), where she led the implementation of Advancing Protection and Care for Children in Adversity: A U.S. Government Strategy for Children to Thrive—an interagency strategy to promote early childhood development, ensure nurturing and protective family care for all children, and prevent violence against children.
- Has 20 years of experience in international development, with a focus on child protection, mental health and psychosocial support, disability rights, and multisectoral approaches to support vulnerable families.
- Led USAID's Inclusive Development Hub, which worked to protect the rights, safety, well-being, and inclusion of marginalized and vulnerable groups.
- Held various roles at USAID, including Presidential Management Fellow, advisor to the USAID administrator, director of USAID/Cote d'Ivoire's Economic Growth Office, and USAID’s liaison to the African Development Bank.
- Worked on child protection issues for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Ghana.
- Holds a B.A. in political science from Haverford College and an M.A. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
